1. Name and function of parts - Summary - Dr. Oppel(ST-501) is a surgical unit to cut and coagulate the affected part using High Frequency. -Appearance and Structure 1) Appearance (A) Picture [Appearance of main body] 3
(В) Description 9 10 8 11 1 0 7 5 4 3 2 [Front View] No. Name Function 1 Power switch ON/OFF mode by pressing the switch and the lamp inside the switch turns on at ON mode. 2 Foot switch A female jack to connect a foot switch. 3 Alarm lamp In case the patient plate is separated or cut from the connector, or there is something wrong with the monitor circuit of the patient plate, the lamp turns on with alarm. 4 Patient plate connector A female jack for the patient plate. 5 Monopolar connector A female jack for Monopolar. 6 Bipolar connector A female jack for Bipolar. 7 Bipolar/Monopolar optional switch You can turn this switch to the left for Bipolar and to the right for Monopolar. 8 Output power controlling knob You can turn this knob to the right for power increase and to the left for power decrease. 9 Indication lamp for output power time Each lamp turns on when you choose time for output power. 10 Optional switch for output power You can choose time for output power 11 Output power indicator The lamp turns on when output power is generated. 4
12 13 [Side View] No. Name Function 12 Heat emitting hole To emit heat generated in the main unit to the outside. 13 Rubber foot To secure safety and insulation in using the main unit. 5
14 15 16 [Back View] No. Name Function 14 Fuse box To protect the main body from over voltage and over electric current. 15 Beeping sound controlling switch To control the level of beeping sound (more than 65dB) when output power is generated 16 Power switch input socket To insert the input power cord. 6

Explanation of BLOCK DIAGRAM (1) By using high frequency current controlled from Input power, it does not give micro shock of direct current or low frequency current to human body. In other word, it cut, coagulate and stop bleeding by directly using the current without giving electric shock to human body. (2) High frequency departure circuit is convertible between monopolar and bipolar. The high frequency starts from high frequency departure circuit operated by vacuum tube, then goes to output power circuit by resonance coupling of C and L. (3) This surgical unit maintains stable cut and coagulation performance though the shape of active electrodes are changed because the departure circuit reacts delicately to the change of tissue of human body. (4) This surgical unit modulates 6.15MHz sign wave of departure high frequency by half cycle input frequency (60Hz) modulation. The frequency is modulated to 60Hz in so called incision wave so that the frequency becomes a middle wave of incision and coagulation and the out power becomes 130W. Therefore, once setting output power control, it is possible to cut and coagulation by only change active electrode without resetting output power control. 8

6. [TROUBLESHOOTING] l.In case the high frequency cannot be produced 1) Check if the input power cord connects properly. 2) Check if the power switch turns on or not. 3) Check if the output power volume stands at 0 - If the output power volume stands at 0, no output power can be produced. 4) Check if the connection among the device, patient plate, hand prove, and foot switch is properly made. 5) Check if the connection between hand prove and Electrode (Monopolar or Bipolar) is properly made. 6) Check if you set up the switch as either Monopolar mode or Bipolar without fail for your proper use. -Turning to the Bipolar mode, you cannot produce output power in the Monopolar terminal. 7) Check if you set up the output power timer properly. -In case you set up the timer as 1/8 second you could misunderstand that no output power is produced. 8) Check if the fuse is off. 2.1n case beeping sound of output power cannot be produced -Check if the beeping sound controlling volume at the rear of the device turns on. 3.1n case the timer change switch doesn’t work -Check if you change the timer switch with Foot Switch pressed. (You cannot change the timer when you are pressing Foot Switch (Power -On mode), even thought you press the timer switch. *If there are other problems which are not mentioned above, please do not hesitate to contact us. 11
4. How to change the vacuum electronic tube 1) Release all the screws and take the upper case out. 2) Be loosened the screw of the silicon wire and take the wire apart from the vacuum tube as picture A and B. A. В 12
3) Take the vacuum electronic tube out. and replace the new vacuum tube into white circle of picture C above. 4) Assemble in the reverse order. 5. How to change fuse (250V, 5A) 1) Release A by turning to the left (with pushing slightly) using ' - ' driver. 2) Take out two of fuse 3) Put the two new fuses into the proper position. 13
