It was a sunny day, so we couldn’t wait
to get outside. Mum made some chicken
sandwiches and lemonade; Dad took the
sun umbrella and said, “We are going to
the beach! You have 5 minutes to get ready,
Jessica.”
My little brother Sammy ran up to his
bedroom and I went to the garage to get my
new surfboard. Five minutes later after Dad
started the car, Sammy started singing his
favourite kindergarten song about a spider.
He was very loud, too loud, but I didn’t mind.
I was very happy because we didn’t go to the
seaside very often and because I loved Mum’s chicken sandwiches.
On the beach we swam in the sea, surfed and built sandcastles.
Then we had lunch and swam again.
Next, I took my board to go ride the waves but Sammy wanted
the surfboard too. He pushed me hard and I fell face in the sand.
The sand was hot and salty. Sam started laughing and I got very
angry, but then I saw a nest of sea turtle’s eggs. Some baby turtles
stayed in the nest, others ran right to the sea. They were so small
and so sweet.
It was fantastic!
We watched the baby turtles until it was time to come back
home. Sammy and I were friends again. We took many photos and
made a video with a baby turtle hatching from an egg.
On the way home, we were quiet. Sammy fell asleep and I just
thought that it was a beautiful day, the best summer day in my life.
