We ve got lots of questions for the

the answers!
In 1883 there weren't many
sports for Erinn, but she was busy
with the family's cows and her
horse. Her brother Logan wasn't
happy because there weren't any
burgers and chips! There was a lot of work in the house for
Aine - washing and cleaning. What's Aine's opinion of life in
the past? 'Every day was the same, the same food, the same
clothes, the same people.' There wasn't a skateboard for Justin,
but he was busy with the chickens and their eggs.
No, there wasn't a town or village. There were fields and
mountains. There was a school, but it was two kilometres from
the houses. The houses weren't big. There was one small room,
so the family was together all the time.
No, of course there wasn't a TV or a radio - just some card
games and guitars.
D There wasn't a bathroom, but there was a river. The water
was very cold! There was a toilet, but it was outside. And there
wasn't any toilet paper - only leaves!
E Yes, there were horses and a cow for each family. There were
some chickens for eggs, too. There were lots of mice in the
house and a family of wild bears in the woods!
How is life different now from life
in 1883? Think of two things.

Who is William Kamkwamba?
YouTube is full of funny films, strange stories and some true stories,
like the story of William Kamkwamba. William lived in a small village
in Malawi, Africa, but he had big ideas. When he was young, there
wasn't any electricity or clean water in his village. William's family
didn't have much money, so he left school when he was fourteen. He
got a job, but he went to the library in the evening and
studied science books.
What was William's 'big idea'?
One day, William found an interesting book. In it, he saw pictures of
windmills. Windmills turn in the wind and they can make electricity.
William had an idea! He started to make a windmill from wood and an
old bike. 'You're crazy!' his friends said.
Did William's windmill make electricity?
Finally, William finished his windmill and YES! It turned in the wind.
One evening he connected the windmill to a small light bulb and
tested it. Did it make electricity? Yes, the windmill turned and there
was a small light in the dark!

We’re always interested in famous twins and our

and Laurent Bourgeois. They’re from France. They’re
hip hop dancers. We love them! They always dance
together and sometimes they dance with other people
